Spray booths are generally used for thermal spray work using ‘flame spray gun’
or ‘arcjet gun’. It consists of a spray chamber where the job is placed. A
suitable dust collector is connected with the spray booth. The fumes and
metallic dust so generated during thermal spray is sucked through the suction
created by exhaust fan mounted on the dust collector. The dust collector may
be either dry type dust collector or wet type dust collector. The size of
spray booth and dust collector is determined in accordance with job size and
type of thermal spray equipment being used.
Spray Chamber :
A metallic enclosure with
front opened to facilitate job loading / unloading. The spray gun is
positioned in front of spray booth. The size of spray chamber is designed to
accommodate job. The spray chamber is provided with trap for collecting
heavier particles, chunks, wire clippings and its back is connected to dry
type / wet type dust collector.
Dry Type Dust Collector :
It is generally cyclonic dust
collector with exhaust fan and motor mounted on top of it. The fumes and dust
is sucked from spray chamber to keep environment clean and friendly due to
cyclonic action, the dust particles are collected at the bottom tray which can
be periodically removed.
Wet
Type Water Curtain Dust Collector :
The dust collector is similar to wet type dust collector except the style of
water washing of fumes and dust. A water circulating arrangement in pipe with
narrow pitched fine multi holes is installed in the spray chamber. The fumes
and dust (generated during thermal spraying process) is water washed with
barrier of continuously flowing water curtain. The subsequent sequence of
water wash process is similar as in wet dust collector.
